Apparent females. First seen in flight. They flew a lap around the reservoir before settling in the water just east of the central dividing wall, about halfway between the north and south sides. Thick-looking, brick-red head, contrasting sharply with white throat patch. Reddish bills. Similar female Red-breasted would have paler red head with slenderer neck and bill.
