**very rare oversummer but not totally unexpected after a very good spring for them in the region; continuing bird found last week by Nelson. First seen offshore, zipping around and dip-feeding with no other birds in the vicinity, occasionally landing on the water, but eventually came to rest on the sand near one of the piping plover enclosures and allowed for mind-bending views and a really enchanting observation period with this bird. It was in the same spot on the return trip, so we stopped to enjoy it some more. What a bird. Photos
