观察细节
Two birds were interacting in a willow in the meadow to the east, about halfway between the Hwy 36 Causeway and the Feather River, and 2-300 ft from the rocky old RR path. The interaction caused one bird to fly off toward the causeway, appearing to be a shrike in flight. The second remaining bird giving a blood-curdling call, unlike any LOSH I've heard, making me think poss. NOSH. Although the morning sun made detail on the shrike difficult, I took a movie and some still photos of the remaining shrike. This shrike eventually flew off, also toward the causeway. After continuing birding beyond the bridge a bit, I headed back to the causeway. One of the two shrikes called, and this time I got the recording with Merlin, (ID suggesting NOSH). After about 40 min. of additional searching, neither shrikes were seen or heard. Photos and recording attached indicating a young NOSH. I can only submit ID for one bird, as the other, I would have to let go as "shrike species".
