Great find Carl! Much thanks to Mark P for perfect directions. Dull grey chicken-like bird close to the size of a king rail with long orange and grey bill. At first it made several kek sounds but remained only a moving shadow in the weeds. Then it swam rapidly across the pond and disappeared on the near side. 10 minutes later it exploded out of the weeds making loud squawks and flew rapidly back into the weeds. That was the last I saw of it. PHOTO
