Size and shape of nearby swamp sparrows, with fine/crisp streaking on chest and flanks surrounded by subtle but distinctive buffy wash. Buffy malar too. Very cooperative bird, allowing a long study and even a digibin. Possibly chaseable; the bird was at a semi-isolated cattail marsh at 35.8364106, -79.0193240.
