Excellent looks as they circled low. Small, compact buteo with very broad black-and-white stripes in tail. Light-colored underparts getting dark toward throat with broad band around tips of flight feathers. Quick, snappy wing beats for a buteo. After reviewing my photos, I realized one was actually an adult dark morph. This leads me to believe that there were actually three individuals as the two I was looking at with binoculars were both light morphs.
