[Approximate date and pinned location, deduced from the text, Przewalski’s account of the journey (in two volumes), the expedition's detailed itinerary, and Petermann’s 'route-map' of c. 1876] Przewalski notes that this taxon is new to science. "...The autumnal migration, in Ala-shan, takes place early in October, and the vernal one, in Kan-su, late in April or early in May. Towards the middle of the latter month they had already commenced building, but had no eggs yet." (Prjevalsky [= Przewalski], 1877, p. 302. Illustration plate 300-301.) Prjevalsky [= Przewalski], N. (1877), ‘On the birds of Mongolia, the Tangut Country, and the solitudes of Northern Tibet’, translated from Russian by E. Carl Craemers, in Rowley, G.D., ed.
