Noticeably larger than nearby Least Sandpipers. Crown suffused with amber/ochre; same coloring of lores and auriculars. Bill black, slightly drooping and slightly longer than Least bill. Upper scaps with black centers and amber/orange borders. Lowe scaps either amber/orange with black anchors or medium gray with black shafts. Breast dotted with black chevrons. Legs and feet black with semipalmated toes.
