****MEGA**** 1st Texas and lower 48 record; (HY?) female bird found initially on Dec 19th by David Sarkozi and David Hanson but was withheld until access was able to be arranged. After only a probable report on the first 8 o’clock trip, we were slightly discouraged, but when we got to the spot Nolan Walker found it in literally three seconds. My boy was SHAKING. The bird foraged around its favorite line of sticks the whole time while the 8 o’clock trip was reassembled. Identification seems tricky but the overall darker contrast, warmness of the breast and rump, and sharply contrasty white throat line up solidly for Amur Stonechat (S. stejnegeri). Absolutely NUTS record; nothing like a Texas sibe……YEEEEEEHAWWWW
