Continuing rarity found by Andy Wilson. We arrived around 8:00 and had the meadowlark flock in the field north of the grey house. They moved briefly once before returning there and spent about an hour feeding in the field’s bare patches before moving on again (requiring substantial time and effort to relocate). We watched the WEME for the majority of this time with good scope views. It was paler overall than the other meadowlarks; the back gave the impression of being mostly light brown rather than dark brown, which was opposite to the other birds in the flock. The facial pattern was less contrasting than the other birds, although the cheek patch was a bit darker than I expected. The tertials were light brown without dark centers, and the flanks were pale with reduced streaking. Later in the morning (around 10:00 or so, when it was refound with the other birders) I saw it fly up and noted small, thin dark streaks near the end of the outer two rectrices.
