Great western rarity found by DM on the New London CBC and continuing near the point. Similar to Eastern Towhee but with notable large white spots on back. Dark head, rufous sides, perched in and briefly on small trees and bushes in area with dense thickets. It remained within a tangle for several minutes. We waited patiently for it to perch in the open for a better photo op, but alas no. Seen with several other birders including DM the original finder.
