First Owl auditory. One syllable note every two seconds. Coming from direction of small muskeg pond at ridge south-west of beaver pond at 4:15pm. Attached a recording. Got back to Highway 45 minutes later. Two audible calls on right and left sides of road at 5:00 pm by the parking spot - call and response for a good 5 minutes. Then two call and response on left side of parking lot, the one on the right quiet for about 5 minutes, then two again - one from the left and and one from the right side of the parking spot. What is the likelihood the owl on the right flew over to the left and then back to the right in 10 minutes? Decided to count three at Parking spot and one across from the Beaver pond 45 minutes earlier and 3/4 miles away. 3/23/24: Based on discussion between Amy Clark Courtney and Gus van Vliet, they suggested to change count from 4 to 3. I believe the Owl at the Beaver Pond did not come to the trailhead. There are two additional observations on 2/19 and 3/15 from the beaver pond. However, it is possible that only two Owls were at the trailhead on 2/17 and that one of them flew back and forth. Therefore, changed count for this observation from 4 to 3 to be on the conservative side.
