Continuing pair, very active and vocal. This may be the same spot where a pair of Red-tails nested several years ago. The CORA seem to have appropriated the nest and are adding nest material to it. At one point the pair shooed a RTHA away from the cathedral, though I didn't see the hawk attempt to land on the nest. CORAs average 4-5" *larger* than RTHAs, and the size difference was apparent! The nest is very high up and (I think) too distant to be disturbed by humans observing from Morningside Drive (between 112-113th). Did some research on Christian iconography, and I think the stone statue is Saint Andrew. From what I read, St Andrew asked to be crucified on a diagonal cross because he felt unworthy to die on the same shaped cross as Jesus. He is often depicted carrying an x-shaped cross like this one. Photos. Bruce Yolton confirmed that the nest location is the same one that was used by the RTHA pair many years ago, and that the statue is that of St Andrew. Details re the original nest and the statue are here: https://www.urbanhawks.com/exterior_of_cho
