观察细节
One individual of the Spur-winged Lapwing was meticulously documented, extensively photographed, and videographed during our observation. Comparable in size to the Red-wattled Lapwing, albeit marginally smaller, it captured our attention profoundly. In the tranquil morning hours around 7:30 am, our first encounter with this magnificent bird occurred as it gracefully foraged amidst the verdant paddy fields and the raised bunds between them. Accompanying its presence were other waders, including Wood Sandpipers and other Red-wattled lapwings. Intriguingly, sporadic instances of the visitor engaging in a combat/drive away gesture with the Red-wattled Lapwing, and vice versa, while feeding were noted. Over the span of 1.5 to 2 hours, the visitor exhibited a nomadic behavior, shifting its location 4 to 5 times, characterized by a leisurely lapwing-like flight accompanied by distinctive calls that aligned seamlessly with the data accessible on eBird, Merlin, and Xenocanto. By approximately 9:00 am, the individual transitioned towards the boundary of the lake, navigating between islands and intermittently engaging in feeding or repose. As time elapsed, it found peace in the presence of two Red-wattled Lapwings, with whom it traversed between miniature islands and the shores of the lake giving us impeccable opportunities for photography. Eventually, they collectively migrated towards rocky place for their post breakfast roost.
