Behavior, after the egg was moved to the riverbank's grassy cover.
观察细节
The anis were clustered on the ground, and I first thought they were Scrub Blackbirds. A few flew to the other side of the rio, but it seemed odd for so many to be in that tight area on the ground. On the 8th I saw and photographed one egg on the ground beneath the small tree, one that several species of birds use for nesting. Workers had recently pruned that tree. I nudged the egg to the base of the tree to better protect it from dogs/children/feet. Today to my surprise, the anis were moving the egg, taking turns. Some watched from various scrubby trees along the river bank. A few others flew to the other side of the rio. One tried moving the egg in its beak, while others used the beak to roll it. Others were gathering dead/cut grasses or twigs. One bird nudged the egg over the edge of the hill, where they went deeper into the taller grasses.
