*Rare, Continuing female. ABA Code 4. Found on Dec 5, 2023, by Harry Riker. First NJ record and first record east of Wyoming. Previous reports in the Americas include: 2 in British Columbia, 3 in Washington, 1 in Oregon, 5 in California, 1 in Idaho, 1 in Wyoming, and 1 in Mexico, and Numerous in the Aleutians. Bird was last seen about 45 minutes prior to our arrival at 9:30 we waited about 1.5 hours until it appeared at 11:05 in the overhanging branches past the orange flags right of the feeder. It sat for about a minute until it was harassed by YRWA before flying into the pine behind the feeder and then disappeared into the holly left of the feeder. We waited until 11:30 but did not see it again. Small bird, about the size of a titmouse. Coloration and posture reminiscent of a female bluebird. Gray wings, light breast, white throat, rusty flanks, and a pale eye-ring. Blue tail was barely visible in photo. Lifer
