观察细节
Rare in winter. In the bushes along the southwest side of the paved maintenance road at the southwest side of the lake, around (37.4328, -122.0953). As I biked by, I heard this bird giving what sounded like its usual gnatcatcher-like call, but a bit harsher, and blending into its rattling scold call at the end. I looked just in time to see it hop down into the bushes, out of view, but my naked-eye impression seemed to confirm that it was a House Wren, as it looked paler brown than Bewick's and relatively uniform in color, with a plain-looking face, lacking the white supercilium of Bewick's. Fortunately, a few minutes later, it popped out and started calling again, giving me clear binocular views to confirm the ID. A Lincoln's Sparrow is giving its chip call in the background of this recording.
