观察细节
A female bird judging by the plumage. Perched atop cactus shrubs. Uttering feeble thin ‘seep’ whistle having a slight downward slur. Was observed at a distance of around 60 meters initially. The bird was performing a crouching movement after every call note. Striking white rump observed in flight. Shy bird, not willing to let the walking biped observer closer than a distance of 15-20 meters. Flying off, always perching on a cactus shrub at various heights from the ground level (a few centimetres from the ground to 1-2 meters from the ground); the Deccan trap plateau habitat was abound with cacti. Significant amount of bright white in the vent region also observed. Flight shots show inverted black T on the spread white tail feathers. Resemblance to male plumage of ‘opistholeuca’ race is apparent. Possibility of it being a specimen of this relatively uncommon race needs to be therefore discussed.
