Long bill with yellow lower mandible and black tip, which should separate this bird from Dusky or Hammond's. White outer tail feathers. After discussing tail pumping with John, he remembered the bird pumping its tail at first, reminiscent of a phoebe. After that, the bird was very active, constantly on the move. I was busy photographing the bird, but when I stopped just to watch, I (as well as John) noticed more what I would describe as tail flicking. Pale gray with faint eyering. Short primary projection. Considered probable at this time. Still reviewing photos and literature. The bird seemed to be quite "comfortable" (was getting lots of insects) where we observed it (SW corner of the old coast guard station grounds) and might be expected to remain for a few days, but it is a pretty good hike from the ferry terminal.
