观察细节
Rare: "Infrequent"-- Contiuing large plover with thin, delicate bill, golden scalloping on back/scaps. Wing coverts edged grayish white, dullest toward carpal. Tertials fall well short of tail tip and primaries extend beyond tail, leaving several blackish primary tips exposed. Cap contrastingly dark, grading to white forehead. Dark spot on rear auriculars contrasts with otherwise whitish face. Long, pointed wings and rapid, falcon-like motions in flight. No apparent whitish in underwing. One of only a few times each of us has seen a golden plover and either our second or third American GP. County and state bird! I really want to see the wetlands of arctic tundra, to understand how birds this cool evolved.
