NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 11. Bulk reel: 27Weather: Fair. The first part of this cut is continued from Cut #4 of Micrastur mirandellei. Besides two mirandellei, we hear what seems to be the "single-note bark" song of ruficollis. Quality: 3. Level: +14.Then the reflector was pointed in that direction and we hear what surely seems to be the "dawn song" of ruficollis. Whether this is the same bird that was giving the "barks" I can't say as there was some discontinuity. However that seems like a fair possibility. (This song must be critically compared with similar songs from N. central Venezuela and the Andes; also with a very similar song of gilvicollis recorded in July.) Note especially that when the "dawn song" finishes its pretty clear that the same bird continues singing with the "single-note bark" song. This bird then stops singing. The recording is cut after the final phrase of the song of mirandellei.
