If this is a Winter wren it appears to have sung a Pacific song. It was so fast and trill like, sharp up and downs, not melodic like a typical winter wren. The sonogram shows this also. Merlin did not dare to id it I guess. But Merlin did record it and does show the sonogram. The upload to ebird lost some detail so I am also adding the screen shots of the audio which show better. This is a good article about the differences in calls. http://earbirding.com/blog/archives/826 This bird was very aggressive with another wren, assumed winter although never got a good look at it. Meghan and I were focused more with this one because it was so close. This one literally was 10/12 feet away and sang and fluttered wings. I immediately recorded first because it sounded so different, then I took some photos. The most cooperative wren ever. I realized once it chased and fought with another wren why, it was signing because it was being territorial. I have not been back since I wonder if it is still there?
