媒体文件注释

Begging and hunger calls from immature Osprey on nest at the Blue Jay Point, on shore of Falls Lake, in Blue Jay Pt CP. Two adult Ospreys were calling in the distance, then appeared.

观察细节

The nest is in a small tree at the tip of the Blue Jay Point, and only about 10 meters above the beach. People can walk right under this nest (we did not). They have nested here in past years. There was one older juvenile in nest, calling for food, recorded. Two adults over the lake calling. Then one adult chased a Red-tailed Hawk, repeatedly diving down on the soaring bird from above! Then an adult Bald Eagle appeared and both Osprey adults chased the eagle, diving down from above... Never saw that before. Interpretation: protecting that young bird, who is old enough to fly, but is still being fed by them and stays in the nest.
