Yellow-billed Loon
观察细节
I viewed the Yellow-billed Loon from my yard through my spotting scope at a distance of 100 yards. The upturned bright yellow bill was easy to see. This bird was still mostly in adult breeding plumage. This bird was a first for my yard in breeding plumage. I was able to get some distant pictures and the bird moved closer to shore for even a better pictures. I will post photographs to my checklist at a later time. I did get some excellent pictures, but not in bright sunlight. The bird drifted with the tide down the bay in an east direction. It never dove the whole time I observed it. This was not the same Yellow-billed Loon viewed from my yard by Bob Bagwell and myself on the Sequim-Dungeness Christmas Bird Count. That was a juvenile bird in a winter type plumage.
