[edited 12/26/2021] This bird has been determined to be an immature female Rufous/Allen's Hummingbird by Sheri Williamson by the predominately green R1. Usually more identification precision would not be possible as they are virtually identical in plumage and no known differences in vocalizations. However, Sheri's well trained eye and knowledge detected some inner primaries are fresher the other indicating that the bird is in molt, not that far into molt. See the dorsal view in attached photos. A HY/SY (immature) Allen's should be much further along in primary molt, typically completing in January. On the other hand, a HY/SY Rufous completes flight feather molt in March. [ref: Pyle 1997]. Based in the progress of flight feather molt and the likely hood of occurrence, Sheri is fairly comfortable labeling this individual as an immature female Rufous Hummingbird.Photos & hopefully some audio. [original] Narrowed down ID to either Rufous or Allen's. Hopefully the audio will reveal something since visually it is nearly impossible to separate these species in this plumage (unless someone gets a good shot of the spread tail). Photos not so good as I was trying to show various angles and the underside of the tail - again not very useful in determining A vs R. For what its worth, first audio Z008 Merlin identified as RUHU, the others Z009 & Z010a as ANHU.
