***First state record. Originally flushed this bird in the western portion of the marsh. It took off giving bubbly flight calls almost reminiscent of UPSA. Both of us were stumped on what this thing was until we tracked it down a few more times over the course of the next hour. A nice juv, with a buffy breast (particularly evident in flight), brightly marked coverts and scapulars, orange tertials, brick red cap, eye ring, and distinct white supercilium. It would sit low, usually entirely invisible in the salt marsh grass, and only pop up into visibility or flush once within a few feet of the bird. Never foraged out in the open, but occasionally in some of the small channels at low tide. Extremely easy to flush, but with patience you can avoid disturbing the bird. Many photos and some audio
