Well!!! I was busily hunting down the Tree Frogs when I heard the unmistakable booms of a Frogmouth in the usual little corner they like by the Back Dam, so I headed over and... there!! It lumbered away from an eye level perch, and I was almost a little irritated at missing the opportunity for a shot. But then... that's when ANOTHER Frogmouth started calling nearby, and so the most remarkable breeding display began between the two!!! The first one boomed at a lower pitch and slower pace, its throat ballooned out, while its nearby yet invisible mate was calling high, fast and urgently; the strangest thing of all came when the first bird started making an unusual muffled chuckling noise for a bit, something I've never heard Tawnies do!! Not only were these beautiful birds an unforgettable memory, but there was an even better Frogmouth (also calling) sitting right by the turning circle in front of the house when I got back!!!
