Mediocre recording
观察细节
One presumptive male alone, almost certainly this species, at the top of the Cuesta del Rey Chico, I think eating figs. Long-tailed predominantly green parakeet, essentially Macaw-sized. After seeing the bird fairly well and noting the neck bands, the only other real possibility is Rose-ringed Parakeet, but this bird very large and appearing very gray-headed in flight, with broad, not narrow black band around neck. Uploading audio in which low craaaak calls are heard in background of much louder Spotted Starling. Calls to my ear harsher, more guttural and lower-pitched than those of Rose-ringed parakeet. However, identification complicated as I am realizing I heard and saw what was probably this bird on August 31st in roughly the same area (descending the Cuesta del Rey Chico) but discounted it as a Monk Parakeet, a species I had been seeing many of over the previous few days in Cadiz and along the Costa del Sol. Lazy birding, really, as I didn't spend any time looking at the bird at the Alhambra that day, even though I remember thinking the voice was off for a Monk Parakeet. I didn't realize multiple species of parakeet, all introduced, were possible, and I generally don't spend as much time as I probably should on obviously introduced/escaped species. Bird can be heard squawking softly starting at just before 8 second mark on this recording, and then more or less throughout, with more intense vocalizations starting just before the 1 minute mark.
