*POTENTIAL* This Jaeger was first photographed on Wednesday but the photos were only of it at rest and was not relocated by others. Seen today on North Beach (Outback Key) amongst Laughing Gulls. Jaeger (much smaller than Laughing Gulls, similar in size to Sandwich Terns it was harassing). Small bill and light head. In flight bird shows two white outer primaries with no “white flash” in wings. The two pointed central tail feathers gave us pause that it was a Parasitic given several books suggest LTJA in this sub-adult stage should have rounded central tails, but upon research have found several examples of sub-adult LTJA with pointed feathers. Finally, I’ve been told the extensive bright white belly is another trait of LTJA. The bird was first observed Wednesday, so it appears to be hanging in the area amongst the 1000s of Laughing Gulls. Didn’t want to leave this bird unreported while confirming suspected ID, especially seeing this bird seems “chaseable”.
