refound by several birders at 3:15 pm as it flew into a birch tree. record shots taken. juvenile with significant amounts of muddy black and white barring on back, wings, and wingtips. sported a very faint yellow wash on belly, and a distinct lack of red crown markings characteristic of adults. larger than a Downy, and smaller than a Hairy.
