The first song tape was the bird’s eighth after it began singing just before 16:41:42 (when it gave its second song), after which I got onto it just before 16:43:16 after missing seven songs. These were the first songs I heard by this bird despite the fact that I had been waiting around for it for about 20 minutes, during which time Bird #2 was singing intermittently in the background. Tor this recording, the unseen bird was singing from a concealed perch about 20 meters away and 18-20 meters up near the top of a vine-tangled tree just in on the south side of the road at the western end of where it regularly sang. I got back onto the bird at 17:04:24 after missing a single song when the bird began singing again after a short break. After another short break, in which I missed a partial song at 17:11:08 and a more complete song at 17:11:29, I got back onto the bird again, but it sang only twice during this last part of the recording, with the second song apparently given from a different perch. The bird was in essentially the same place for all three parts of this recording, although the angle maybe little better in some places than in others. Mostly clear, intermittently breezy, 84° F. ML: Subject identified by recordist as Xiphorhynchus guttatus polystictus but assigned to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 2016). -[Brad Walker 12Aug2016].
