Adult male. A pair were observed feeding in a Marri Tree. The nuts of this tree are extremely difficult to crack to obtain the seed inside. This bird has adapted by using its long, thin upper mandible to access the seed through the top of the cone. Note the bird has just nipped off the cone and then turns the cone in an upright position. Elevation: 158 m. Date added to IBC: June 22, 2016.
