Unknown Red-bellied Pitta species on Mangupung island, Nanusa, Talaud. Pittas on Nanusa inhabit only three of the eight islands: Karatung, Marampit and Mangupung, and are dependent on small remnants of primary forest and mature secondary vegetation. The species is clearly different from the Talaud Pitta, more akin to the Philippine or Maluku species, despite the geographic distance. However the vocalisations somewhat differ from these. Possible new taxa. Elevation: 29 m. Date added to IBC: February 5, 2017.
