Notes transcribed directly from journal: "Immature male bird first found November 11 by Alan Wormington. The bird was larger and bulkier than the Ruby-crowned Kinglets with which it associated and moved much more deliberately. It was grayish above with darker wings, two bold white wing bars, and prominent lime colored edgings to flight feathers. The head and upper breast were mostly a dull yellowish-ochre with a fairly distinct and defined dusky auricular patch on each side. the bill was warbler shaped (perhaps a little bulkier) and mostly dark with some pinkish basally on the lower mandible. The belly and reminder of the underparts were an off white. From below there was some white visible in the tail that seemed to be in the outer retrices. Over the last five minutes of our fifteen minute observation, the bird began calling regularly though somewhat subdued---it was a mellow Western bluebird like "new" note that it typical of the species."
