Subtitle: Tendipes palustris. Cornell Catalog Cut 1. Recorded at Ferguson's Gulf, Lake Rudolf, Kenya, East Africa. Alt. 1230 ft. March 22, 1956, 6:30am. Partly cloudy. Temp 80° F. Sound: Swarms of small fly-like insects came in off the Lake or Gulf each evening and morning clustering in a flight (probably courtship) c. 5-10 ft. above ground. Came in in clouds c. 10 ft in diameter, which is rather poorly illustrated on tape owing to its low level. Specimens collected (100 in 3 vials). Specimens sent 7/24/57 to USDA Research Service, Beltsville, Maryland by PPK. Identification by W. W. White, USSA.
