3rd summer adult (i.e. not white tips in primaries).
Деталі спостереження
New Longview Lake and Jackson County ebird record! 3rd summer adult based on no discernible white tips in primaries (as expected on 4th year and older adult), otherwise, looked just like an adult Laughing Gull, with a blood red bill, long pointed wings with no white anywhere in upper wings (eliminating Franklin's). Along long 'stretched' out appearance vs. bulky, compact, chunky belly look of Franklin's. Long wings of bird really added to that elongated long. Slightly larger than the Franklins and with a dark gray mantle. Bird was first noticed at exactly 6:30 am on distant pylon and it appeared a different shape to me. It spent the next 35 minutes going from pylon to pylon, mainly just trying to rest. Around 7:05 am, it took off and headed south, following some Franklin's Gull and ended up circling and diving down to water offshore from parking #12, before heading back north. I couldn't relocate it after 7:15 am, but didn't try to hard, so bird could still be around. The many Franklin's nearby knew this bird was different and individuals repeatedly called at it and drove it off the pylons it tried to roost on.
