A bird perched on a reed, calling. Published in HBW Volume 11 on page 495. Original HBW caption: The genus Cettia contains a medley of nondescript, difficult-to-identify species with uncertain affinities. All are fairly skulking birds of dense undergrowth, and many have powerful, complex songs. The Aberrant Bushwarbler is, perhaps unexpectedly (!), rather typical in these respects. It looks confusingly similar to Phylloscopus warblers, and indeed one race was described as such in the past. The subspecies weberi, pictured here, is morphologically distinctive, but it is vocally and genetically close to other subspecies, and therefore unlikely to warrant elevation to species status. IBC scientific name: Horornis flavolivaceus weberi. Elevation: 2961 m. Date added to IBC: June 21, 2016.
