This bird called loudly about 20 to 30 ft directly above my head in the Banyon Tree canopy. Did not show until around 10am. Calls were very clear and identifiable and Merlin recognized them immediately as Western flycatcher (pacific slope song). Sometimes sat still in the canopy doing the hi-pitched chip call. Finally got a decent recording as well as a few pics, however bird was very hard to photograph as it hung out sitting still in the very tops of the canopies near and in the Banyan Tree. Took awhile for him to become more active.
