Flock of 17 resting along a tailrace along Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Canal. The pic shows only a portion of this flock, together with one of 2 DC’s that were accompanying this group. The construction of this canal - built to bring drinking water from Lake Livingston on the Trinity to Lake Houston on the San Jacinto - has created a permanent deep water feature on this prairie setting, and has created a habitat for diving birds such as cormorants.
