Деталі спостереження
*Late report* ID confirmed by Steve Mlodinow, who said, “The facial pattern mimics that of Black-throated Green, with accentuated dark areas fitting that species face pattern. The bird also lacks yellow outside of those areas that are yellow on Townsend’s Warbler or Black-throated Green Warbler. Also, the bird lacks gray if Hermit Warbler. In a perusal of 100 or so Hermit Warbler x Townsend’s Warblers on Macaulay, there are none like it.” Additionally, the bird shows solid white undertail coverts, with a greenish yellow vent marking that would be present on Black-throated Green Warbler. I didn’t notice that I had a clear photo of the birds underside prior to receiving input from Peter Pyle, in which he was leaning towards HY male Hermit Warbler x Townsend’s Warbler, however the visible yellow across the vent would indicate BTNW rather than HEWA. This bird was initially overlooked, presumed to be just an odd looking Townsend’s Warbler foraging in Oceanspray with a group of it’s own species. Thanks to Kalin Ocaña for bringing the weird bird to my attention, and Melissa Hafting for helping me identify it!
