1st 2 segments: perched calls in red pines, probably adults. Last 2 segments; juvenile begging calls with 2 feedings seen. Wind through the leaves of aspens created the background noise.

Looks like a type 12 family group: this caught me off guard...I was doing something else so didn't have my binos with me but the birds were low enough in red pines to make out an adult male and female with at least one begging juvenile. I did get some calls recorded as they foraged on older, remaining red pine cones. Two female feedings of a begging juvenile were witnessed. The birds looked to be fairly decent fliers; judging from the begging behaviour of the one juvenile, this likely is from a late May- early June nesting. I couldn't tell if the other 2 birds were juveniles or not. Earlier confirmed breeding of type 12's occurred here in April of this year. The last juveniles heard in the yard were from type 2's on June 3rd. Juveniles from 4 or 5 different types have been heard from March 1st to today, June 30th, making it one heck of a successful, historical RECR breeding season. But right now, once again, the main flight calls heard lately is that of the expected northeastern or type 12 RECR.
