Деталі спостереження
At 20:25 I observed 2 large swifts fly directly overhead (approx 150ft up) flying north to south over the creek toward coalpit falls and got excellent looks at all black belly on one. Given close proximity and fast flight that’s the only field mark I observed at that time as they were out of view quickly. At 20:45 two swifts reappeared higher up and east of Coalpit falls and I captured several photos. These birds appeared all black (although given backlighting did not rule out WTSW from that field mark alone), had slow shallow wingbeats, and a broad square tail. The pictures don’t do much other than show the very square and relatively short tail from several different angles and flight positions. I assume these were the same two Black Swifts seen earlier. At 21:00 I observed a single WTSW which helped for comparison as it had noticeably faster wingbeats and some white on belly compared to the BLSW.
