Деталі спостереження
Continuing (1/30) with his Red-shielded Buddy alongside him for excellent comparison. Fully white frontal shield that extends high on its forehead, in comparison to the Red-shielded American Coot that has a partial maroon spot on the top of the shield, giving it a truncated look. Similar to the Eurasian Coot, but this American has a black terminal band on its white bill, unlike an all-white bill on a Eurasian. 1341 – upon arrival to the upper Lake, I noticed minimal waterfowl in the area due to the water bikes dominating the upper Lake. I then first spotted its Red-shielded Buddy, floating around in the water, when I spotted another Coot, napping on the shore with some Mallards and a domestic. It then got flushed when a father took his son to check them out, awakening the mystery Coot, and sure enough, its white shield was evident from a distance.
