It first appeared on its own at 11:40 to bathe at Elk Creek mouth. This was on a in-coming tide (seems to be its routine over the last couple days). After the tide starts to come in it gets pushed closer to parking area where it spends time preening hanging out with Bonaparte’s Gulls. Today the gull has spent quite a while roosting/preening. I think a lot of that has to do with there being less disturbance of people walking dogs to flush them. That was a big issue yesterday. Also weather has changed a lot today with heavy winds blowing from the west with a mix of showers. The watched the gull the entire time and noted it leaving at 12:57 where it took off to feed headed out past entrance jetty. Gull really stands out being darker in the carpal bar, more dark on the cap, and a more squat look being that it’s smaller and has shorter wings. The primary pattern alone is unique with a cool zigzag pattern of white in the black. Amazing lose looks today roosting on the beach 100-200 yards north of the Elk Creek mouth. Photos to add.
