Lifer! I heard it singing as I made my way down the switchbacks and pulled over, hoping to see it. Trying to get closer, I scrambled down the bank and crossed the roadside creek, but it was still somewhat distant up the opposite slope. I pushed my way uphill, struggling through rhododendron thickets and dense leafy mats, making enough noise to scare it off. Yet it went on singing until I was practically under it, though I still couldn't see the little culprit. Suddenly a Titmouse flew in angrily, and a little flash of brown zipped out of the understory. Not far off, moving on a poplar branch, there it was, finding it's next perch. The singing started up again, and I watched it for a good while, belting away. A lightly tann warbler with rufous cap, dark eyeline, plain breast, with paler undertail coverts. Large, pinkish, sharp bill for a warbler, almost same width as head. Song a slurry "seew seew seew SISTerville" Audio attached
