Деталі спостереження
Materialized at 16:39 and watched for a little over 5 minutes before it flew out of sight after being chased by Laughing Gulls. The bird was on west end of the island immediately NNE of the bridge here: 30.281704,-87.552333. I viewed the bird from the fence line at the public beach here: 30.277596,-87.551340. Entering adult aspect (I think), similar in size to the Laughing Gulls with what appeared to be shorter legs, a slightly slimmer frame, smaller head, and more petite black bill. Upperparts dark slate with slightly lighter charcoal gray underparts. Head frosted whitish as it is entering alternate/adult plumage. Dark legs. White secondaries contrasting sharply with the rest of the wing both at rest and in flight. Tail charcoal with darker thin terminal band. Appeared to be posturing and giving long calls to some of the Laughing Gulls. Continuing first US record, rediscovered here a few weeks ago after being MIA for several months.
