*rare; found by Luis Gles and the WINGS group led by Raymond VanBuskirk and Tiffany Kersten at Antone Slough. They initially flushed it out of the magic marshy puddle at Antone Slough and it went to the farther back muddy depression before it flew again towards the southwest corner of Antone Lake. By this time I joined the group with John and Lizzie Diener (NMFS biologists) and we walked Antone Wall to the end, but it was not with the Green-winged Teals there. We returned back to the slough and the Baikal Teal was in the same farthest back muddy depression as earlier. These little wet spots set back from the main channel of Antone Slough are remarkably productive. The magic marshy puddle has already had Long-toed Stint, Solitary Sandpiper, Garganey, Common and Jack Snipe this fall. This is the second Baikal Teal record for St. Paul in two consecutive years now, of five total records for the Pribilofs all-time (1919, 1961, 2001, 2022, 2023). The 2001 record is from St. George Island, which means we have back-to-back records after a 61 year gap for St. Paul!
