Деталі спостереження
Initially flushed unidentified small shorebird from large puddle at edge of corn field, and watched it circle the area for a few minutes, each time when it came closer it showed unusual features that suggested red-necked phalarope. It was hard to get a clear look but it appeared committed to returning, and when it landed there was no doubt this is what it was - an adult female in breeding plumage. Returned to car to retrieve camera and met Denise Jernigan, and we went back to relocate the bird in same puddle and take pictures. Note that this is mostly private farmland; however, nearest parking is on Arrowhead Drive, off of Main Street, south of Glastonbury town center. Past metal gate, go down Meadow Road, turn left upon reaching farm field, follow edge, take right at a big puddle and go to corner of wood lot, then left and go all the way to barbed wire fence and take a right. Then bird was seen in a large puddle at corner of fenced horse pasture (in the corn field). Total distance about a mile from gate.
