Деталі спостереження
In shock to see this bird singing in the yard. Heard the slow, buzzing song of a vireo, similar to a red-eyed vireo, but even longer pauses, as the bird was in some evergreen trees near our pond. Popped out and then I thought it was a blue-headed vireo which I was happy about, but then I realized that it wasn't right for a blue-headed vireo. Light blue-gray color above, white below with no yellow at all, white spectacles. Singing so not likely an immature blue-headed vireo, which would be a surprise here this time of year anyway. It sure looks like a plumbeous vireo. Was able to snap some photos when it popped up in a closer tree. Eventually flew to the front of the yard and the bird disappeared, and I had to leave for work so I couldn't stick around to try to find it again. P.S.: We do live in a private, gated community, so it may not be possible for people to go in if we are not there, like us being at work. Still, we are not far from the gate and the bird may go into wooded areas just outside the gate.
