Деталі спостереження
Heard giving "jip-jip" call, then seen at approximately (39.69536,-104.97064), in a wet ditch along the east edge of Grasmere Lake. A surprise to me, but I now see that one has been reported here this winter. When I first heard it, it was nowhere to be seen, and it sounded as if it was calling from inside a drainage pipe. Sure enough, a few seconds later, it hopped out of there and perched on a twig next to the opening, as shown in these photos. Husky but musical "jip-jip" call consistent with typical call of Winter Wren rather than harsher, Wilson's-Warbler-like "chip-chip" of Pacific. My faulty phone case rendered my first attempt at getting an audio recording completely inaudible, but after I took my phone out of its case, I got this clear audio.
